Season Preview

30 Pack: Prediction Edition

Another September. Another 30 Pack of New York Jets season predictions. Let’s get into the damn thing…
  1. Breece Hall will play to his fantasy football draft status, narrowly beating Curtis Martin’s single season yards from scrimmage franchise record of 1,942 and tacking on 12 touchdowns. He will finish second on the team in targets and receptions.
  2. Garrett Wilson will exceed 110 receptions, 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns en route to his first All-Pro appearance. He will easily lead the Jets in targets and receptions and lay the tracks for a massive new contract from the team.
  3. Aaron Rodgers will narrowly beat Ryan Fitzpatrick’s single season touchdown record (YUCK) and finish with 35 passing TDs across 15 starts with 3,750 yards and 8 interceptions.
  4. The Jets will start 6-2 in their first 8 games en route to an aggressive trade deadline move for wide receiver Davante Adams.
  5. Haason Reddick will play in 14 games for the Jets in 2024 and finish with 9 sacks. He will not be on the team in 2025.
  6. Olu Fashanu will start at least 5 games throughout the season between both tackle positions and also regularly play as an eligible lineman in jumbo packages, including catching a touchdown at some point this season. Hammer that 0;5 season over!
  7. Mike Williams will play in 12-14 games for the Jets this season and finish with 6 touchdowns. He will be relatively inconsistent in terms of target volume and yardage production and not look like himself until October or so.
  8. Tyler Conklin will finish third on the team in targets, receptions and receiving yards. He will have roughly 60 catches, 600 yards and 5-6 touchdowns. Jeremy Ruckert won’t be heavily involved in the passing game but will consistently be a critical blocker and regularly function as a H-Back/fullback.
  9. Quinnen Williams will finish with 8.5 sacks and be an All-Pro IDL. He will help unlock Javon Kinlaw for the best season of his career as he will finish with 7 sacks himself.
  10. The Jets will finish 4-2 in the AFC East, including a sweep of the New England Patriots for the first time since 2000. Yes, it has been 24 years and they will emphatically run up the score in their home opener.
  11. Braelon Allen will be the clear number two running back all season long and finish with roughly 400 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns. Isaiah Davis will chip in another 175 or so yards and a touchdown in his rookie year.
  12. Xavier Gipson will have at least 30 receptions and function as the team’s primary returner for most of the season. He will play substantially more than Malachi Corley in the first half of the year on offense (and potentially for the whole season).
  13. Allen Lazard will have around 30 receptions and a pair of touchdowns. He will gradually be phased out of the offense later in the season after the Jets acquire Adams at the deadline. He will not be on the 2025 team.
  14. AVT will miss 2-3 games, leading to a few rough weeks on the interior for the Jets. Joe Tippmann will be a league average starter at center. John Simpson will be a solid starter but struggle with penalties. Tyron Smith will play about 13 games and be excellent when out there. Morgan Moses will play about 15 games and be good when out there but not be on the team in 2025.
  15. CJ Mosley will take a noticeable step back at inside linebacker but still be a quality starter. Quincy Williams will be an All-Pro and build on last year’s success. Jamien Sherwood will play about 10% more in 2024 than he did last year.
  16. The Jets will struggle at safety throughout the year. Chuck Clark will be an upgrade over Jordan Whitehead but miss multiple games due to injury. Tony Adams will be a league average starter but have a few ugly moments.
  17. Sauce Gardner will have a career high four interceptions in 2024 and also score a defensive touchdown. He will again be an All-Pro and be in line for a massive contract from the Jets. This will be DJ Reed’s last season with the Jets. Michael Carter will ultimately get taken care of with a new contract.
  18. Jermaine Johnson will be the team’s best all around edge and finish with roughly 8 sacks while being stout against the run. Will McDonald will have 4.5 sacks in a mostly situational pass rush role.
  19. Michael Clemons playing time will gradually decrease as the season moves on. Leonard Taylor will be a rotational player as a rookie UDFA and finish with 2.5 sacks and be in line to start in 2025. Neither Clemons nor Kinlaw (who will get a massive contract elsewhere) will be on the Jets in 2025.
  20. The Jets will enter their final four game stretch at 9-4, giving fans 2008 PTSD with a former Packers quarterback under center.
  21. Greg Zuerlein will take a minor step back from last season but the Jets special teams will remain solid overall, finishing in the top 12 in DVOA. Brant Boyer will of course be back in 2025.
  22. In spite of Nate Hackett, the Jets will be a top 12 offensive DVOA team thanks to the dominance of Hall, Garrett and a quality Aaron Rodgers season. Hackett’s shortcomings will periodically cost the Jets in the red-zone though.
  23. Tyrod Taylor will start two games this year and be perfectly capable and competent. He will also be the team’s backup in 2025.
  24. The most random Jets to score touchdowns this year will be Brenden Bates, Fashanu and Ashtyn Davis.
  25. Despite being favorites, the Jets will lose their Sunday night game in Pittsburgh. They will also lose late in the season to the Rams at home.
  26. The Jets will finish with a top 5 defense in DVOA and have double digit victories over Denver, Minnesota, New England once and Indy.
  27. Both Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas will be back in 2025 with new contracts. Aaron Rodgers will be back in 2025. Jeff Ulbrich will be a head coach elsewhere and take Tony Oden as his defensive coordinator.
  28. The Jets playoff drought will come to a merciful end after 13 years and they will have it clinched in advance of week 18, entering the final week at 11-5 against Miami (who will finish third in the AFC East).
  29. The Jets will win their first AFC East title since 2002 and yes, playoff beers at MetLife will be had. They will be the #3 seed in the AFC and beat Buffalo in the wild card round.
  30. The Jets will lose a closely contested divisional round playoff game in Baltimore to end their season. The Chiefs ultimately will make the Super Bowl again from the AFC.
