The Breakdown
The Jets have a few more variables in this group than you’d like to see from a Super Bowl contender which is why rumors of a midseason trade for Davante Adams or another big name veteran will not go away. If Mike Williams is healthy and operating at full capacity, the group rounds out well enough and allows Gipson, Lazard and Corley to properly be role players but if that isn’t the case, it could get ugly in certain weeks.
Wilson is an All-Pro waiting to happen with competent quarterback play and could threaten Brandon Marshall’s single season records with the Jets. Conklin is a steady starter who will be third on the team in targets behind Wilson and Breece Hall. Ruckert hasn’t proven a ton to date but is versatile and a more than capable blocker. Bates, Charles and Yeboah are here for special teams and emergency depth.
The Prediction
Wilson will be the star we expect him to be. The team will trade for Adams at the deadline. Conklin will have his most productive statistical season as a member of the Jets with Rodgers under center. Williams will struggle with consistency but make a handful of big plays, particularly in the red zone. Gipson will play more than people expect, minimizing Corley’s role as a rookie.
