The Breakdown
The whole game. If Rodgers is healthy and even 80% of the player he was during his recent MVP runs, the Jets are going to emphatically break their playoff drought. If he gets seriously hurt again or falls off a cliff production wise, the trade for him begins to look like an unmitigated disaster. Taylor provides far better insurance than Zach Wilson did last year but if he needs to play more than 3 games or so, the Jets are going to be in a precarious position with his age and style of play as well. In short, they need 14+ games of Rodgers to maximize this roster and window.
The Prediction
Rodgers has a good, not great season by his standards which means it will be one of the best, if not the best season in Jets franchise history. He will exceed 30 touchdown passes, 3,500 yards and keep his interceptions under 10…and generally look the part of a top ten quarterback in football. Tyrod will be competent when called into limited action.
