SUMMARY

Musgrave played wide receiver and defensive end in high school before making the jump to tight end at Oregon State. His father, Doug Musgrave, was a quarterback at Oregon in the early 1990's.

The first thing you notice watching Musgrave is his speed. His 40 yard dash time of 4.61s ranked in the 88th percentile (per Mockdraftable) and his play speed looks even faster. He has experience as a hand in the dirt tight end and lining up out wide. Musgrave looks like a natural runner and creates separation with good burst through his turns. He has good tempo in his routes allowing him to create mismatches against linebackers. His speed off the line makes him into a vertical threat in the seams. Musgraves hand placement and physicality make him a serviceable blocker with a framework for improvement.

Musgrave does hold up as a blocker but he does get caught a fair amount overextending into blocks leaving vulnerable to get beat. He can be physical at the point of attack but you'd like to see it there more consistently on a play to play basis. He can struggle at times getting releasing against press coverage and you'd like to see him win more hand fighting battles down the field. He missed all but two games in 2022 with knee injury.
