Big Catch Radius
A massive target with build up speed to make plays down the field, Johnston's adjustments and overall ball skills need to improve to become a high end number 2. His splash plays are the most impressive of this wide receiver class.

The premier ‘big bodied’ receiver of this year’s class, Johnston broke out in 2022 with 60 catches on 97 targets for 1,067 yards and six touchdowns.
He has elite splash plays, with build up vertical speed and the ability to go above the rim against defensive backs. He is particularly impressive with the ball in his hands, with more wiggle than you’d expect considering his size.
As a route runner, Johnston hasn’t carried over that post catch agility to pre-catch. He can get down the field with good acceleration and long strides to outrun defensive backs. He lacks consistent short area quickness to carve up the 8-12 yard range.
While he has a massive wingspan (96th percentile) to succeed at the catch point, his ball skills are very hit or miss. Focus drops and timing are routine issues on film. 11 of his 14 games this year he was held to less than five catches. He only eclipsed the 100 yard mark in four of those 14 games.
There is a lot to be excited about with Johnston’s physical profile and flashes, but if he wants to develop into a reliable number one or two target, he has a lot of developing left to do.
